The moment you meet Keith Hinkley you feel as though you’ve known him for years. He’s genuine … a tell it like it is businessman who has no patience for political posturing or gamesmanship.  Instead, he prefers cutting straight to the chase, setting goals and achieving results. He has a vision for a better Plaquemines Parish. And, he has the intellect and will to get us there.

The son of a career Army veteran, was raised to value public service. He was taught the benefits of discipline and drive at an early age. Upon leaving Northwestern State University, Keith began working at his family’s roofing business. As a way of expanding the market, he began the Louisiana Roofing Company. Today, he leads the 34-year-old roofing and sheet metal firm’s 22-member team.

Keith and his wife Sharon have been firmly planted in Plaquemines Parish for almost 45 years. They raised both of their sons, Whit and Jody, here. Keith ran his family business, but always remained active in promoting and protecting his community. He served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, President of the Rotary Club and was the cantor in his parish church. He was so dedicated to improving Plaquemines Parish, friends strongly encouraged him to run for political office. And, so he did.

Keith Hinkley knows how to get things done.

On September 30, 2006, Republican Keith Hinkley beat two opponents to win the District 2 Council seat with 77% of the vote. It didn’t take Keith long to amass a litany of successes. As Councilman, Keith paved the way for the Parks of Plaquemines subdivision. He protected the integrity of neighborhoods by stopping high-trafficked, big box developments near homes. He shined the light on errors made on critical infrastructure studies. Keith led the charge to upgrade our water system, and he helped accelerate a plan to lift levees and create barrier islands to protect our coastline. When the parish’s 40-year port became entangled in red tape, he guided the port away from politics to help it navigate its own course.  Keith Hinkley has the skills to continue to power Plaquemines forward.
